House Concert on the McKenzie

House Concert on the McKenzie

I was lucky enough to have been invited by Debra Meadow and Paul Dage to play a house concert on the banks of The McKenzie River. I arranged for my friends, Eugene area musicians Jobe Woosley and Kate Kisselburgh to join me for the event and their performance exceeded my high expectations. Paul built the home and it is a masterpiece adorned inside and out by a large amount of incredible works of art. Many of which were created by Debra who has a wide ranging spectrum of creativity. Debra’s three dimensional creations line the banisters and railings. They sit on ledges and table tops in the form of coral like bowls. Her intricate quilt work hangs from the walls, tapestries of wonder. A lot of her work is currently on display at McKenzie River Clinic, I believe running into November. check out her Facebook art page by clicking the button below.

I felt unusually comfortable there on the stage surrounded by Paul and Debra’s neighbors and friends. I was able to fully express myself which made for a very profound experience for me personally as a musician. A night I will not soon forget about and one that reminded me of why, through all the hangups, the down times, and the noisy fog of bar rooms, I continue to write. To everyone involved, I needed this. My art needed this. I thank you. My art thanks you. Photos below were taken and shared with me by Debra.

Wendy Bolen -   “Some people play music as a way to make a living, you, I believe play because you feel it in your heart and soul and that comes across to your audience. You are a true talent and such unique energy and sound. Looking forward to hearing you live again hopefully soon!!”

Anisa Eslick "My best friend of 20+ years is currently battling stage 4 breast cancer, Shane generously donated his time and talent to bring together our small community of Kanab/Fredonia at The Buckskin Tavern in order to celebrate life and courage. With the help of Shane and being known locally we were able to raise a good portion of funds to help Jerra with her treatment. I am incredibly grateful for Shane, his time, and his talent at such a difficult time. Music has a way of healing the soul and Shane's music does that.

-Aaron Ankrom Former manager @Ynot Have Fun “Shane Brown is a true artist and inspiration in the  local music community. He comes to your venue not only to jam, but brings his vision and creative ways to pack the house. He is professional, yet down to earth. His lyrically creative/catchy sound will bring a smile to your face as he sings from the soul. I would highly recommend booking Shane. His talent is one of a kind as well as his beard.”

Musician Travis Riddle- “He shows up, whether playing or not. He inspires other musicians by endless support and constructive advice. When he’s not playing, he out watching, connecting and encouraging the community to support other artists without ego, or competition. His voice and constant drive to try new sounds, textures and genres is incomparable. Shane is the basis of comparison for what community means, and as musicians, we are lucky to have him in ours.”

Noah Giberson aka Sammy The Sprinkler Shane Brown is a class act. Both on and off the stage. Very talented musician, in my opinion one of the best around. Can tell he has a great taste. Doesnt really have a specific genre which is another plus, reminds me of a mixture of folk, blues, country, rock n roll, soul, and reggae. Can tell he has great influences and plays with tons of passion, id drive out of my way to see shane play, very friendly dude even helped me with my music in the past which shows a lot about his personality. Everyone loves Shane, great vibes great music. Highly recommend seeing him jam!

Trailer Trash

Belongings paired down to instruments, tools, clothes, and the bare essentials. I’ve found myself surrounded by extremely supportive people immersed deep in what I consider to be the lush rug at the foot of Mt Hoods triple King bed.

Where nature need not flex it’s power to be recognized. Where reverb and gain sweep the base of mighty pines. Where the sparrows are brazen and stand up to Jays. For now, this is home, in many new ways.

Growing as a person and as an artist I am acknowledging progress.

I still don’t know where I’m going, but I’ll be sure to let you know when I get there.

Ps. Dogs are fucking awesome.
